宇宙からの贈りもの (岩波新書)

Published after his second mission. Contents are vary from introduction of astronauts' experiences in outer space, japanese contribution that should be made in the future,
and to his original thoughts about education and meaning of science and space development.
Here I try to summarize his opinion which hit my mind and doesn't really clear to my understandings.

  • Japanese contribution about joining space development
    • among all creatures on the earth, one of human's roles seems to go beyond space
    • motivation for space of USA and Russian are "competition" while that of japan is "for better life"
    • Japanese uniqueness of culture and way of thinking deliver variety to ISS(International Space Station). Variety is very important to solve unknown problems
  • This society consists of many cultures. Cultures make human(or not only human but also all creatures) life better. Science is just one of them
    • So far only a person who is good at math, science and using computer can goto outer space. but it is not the way should be

What I felt:

  • can't really understand why space development makes creatures life better
  • oh! Can japanese behave as we do now? Good tip of news
