natural language processing(NLP) is useless

my boss, who used to work as a manager in a big company and also has a doctoral degree in information science, always insists that NLP is 'useless'.
i always have been wondered why, but this article gives me a hint of answer.

the hint is "people concering with NLP are trying to solve what easy for human to solve".
my answer is simple like; it costs too much time.
so what i plan to develop is, however, about NLP. As the author of the article also points out, the narrowly focused solution would find a way (though it would not be common service).
